Elise Herve

Elise Herve does everything possible to make each student feel welcome and seen, according to student Yara Goncalves. 
Mrs Herve has taught music at Les Beaucamps High School for the past 18 years. 
‘My driving ethos is that music is for everyone, and watching that play out daily is why I love what I do,’ said Mrs Herve. ‘We have students with a wide variety of characters, confidence, experience and interests coming together solely for the joy of making music. The energy is supportive, often hilarious — it’s the time of day I usually laugh the hardest — and inspiring.
‘Whenever someone asks where I teach, I am always proud to say Les Beaucamps. 
‘When you walk into the school, you can sense the warmth, kindness, and belonging here. The staff’s dedication is outstanding. Everyone works tirelessly to prepare our students for the next chapter of their lives, and they do so with compassion and care.’ 
Miss Goncalves found the transition to Les Beaucamps difficult, but was grateful to find Mrs Herve was always in her corner. ‘If a student feels they are not understanding something or is having problems in school, with friends or with academics, she lets them sit in her room and hang out or do work. It helped me and my friends find a place we felt like we belonged and let us make new friends in different years, helping us feel more connected around the school.
