Elise Herve

ELISE HERVE, head of music at Les Beaucamps High School, has been nominated for Teacher of the Year.

About

She has been teaching at Les Beaucamps for 18 years, and currently teaches years seven to nine, as well as the GCSE music.
She also runs extracurricular music in the school.
‘She is a very kind and a supportive teacher. She helps students in hard times but also if needed to chill or hang out,’ said Mrs Herve’s nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous.
‘She opens up her room for everyone whether they just want to have a chat or if they want some helpful advice for revision.’
Mrs Herve runs a different music club each lunchtime as well as several after school, but one club that stood out to the nominator was the LolliPOP choir.
‘LolliPOP choir is our largest group and it caters for anyone who simply loves to sing,’ said Mrs Herve.
Her favourite part of being a teacher is how busy the music department gets.
‘Even at break and lunch the practice rooms are filled up quickly with pupils rehearsing and there are always pupils coming in to the music room for a catch-up,’ she said.
‘Daily I see pupils gain confidence in themselves and their abilities and that is wonderful to witness.’
