Dr Simon Atkins

Dr Atkins has been working at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital since 2016 and is an associate specialist in the Emergency Department. 
He was nominated by Katherine Northey, who received treatment from him in October after she had a fall in Southampton. Miss Northey commended Dr Atkins for his help recommending a pharmacy and accommodating her Ibuprofen allergy. She made a full recovery within a couple of weeks. 
‘He is a very down-to-earth doctor and has a lot of knowledge of treating people young and old and with disabilities,’ Miss Northey said. ‘He helped me get better quicker than the doctor in the UK I had seen prior. If it wasn’t for him, I would’ve been poorly for ages.’ 
Dr Atkins was surprised but pleased to be nominated. ‘You never really know what’s coming through the door, one minute it’s day-to-day, the next minute you are saving a life,’ he said.
