Dr Jo Daish

‘I couldn't imagine having any other job’, said Dr Jo Daish, a nominee for the award. 
Born and raised locally, Dr Daish returned to the island five years ago to join the Queens Road Medical Practice as a general practitioner. She appreciates that her work is both rewarding and challenging, and she looks forward to making things better for her patients, either through diagnosis or reassuring them that nothing is wrong. 
‘She lets me be who I really am,' said nominator Koritta Coutu. ‘I’m so glad to have a fantastic GP like Dr Daish. She always goes out of her way and she’s helped me in many ways I can’t explain’.
Dr Daish completed her medical training at Leicester University after undertaking an undergraduate degree in medical sciences and humanities at Swansea University. 
‘It wasn’t the most direct route, but it gave me the life experience to know that this is what I want to do’, she said. 
‘I get the opportunity to build up a picture of a patient over the years, which is lovely. It allows me to give a better quality of care, as I get to know them and understand their situation better.’
