About
Alliance front-end supervisor Donna Tucker has been nominated for award after being recognised for the care and kindness she shows to customers every day.
Having worked at the supermarket since 2019, Donna says she was ‘in shock’ at being nominated and is grateful that someone felt she had made a difference.
Ms Tucker, who described herself as wanting to be ‘a safe space for everyone’, said her role was about making people feel welcome, regardless of their age, background or circumstances.
She enjoys bringing a smile to people’s faces, whether that means entertaining children with singing, dancing and games while their parents shop, helping vulnerable adults who may be feeling overwhelmed, or simply taking the time to chat with elderly customers who appreciate a friendly conversation.
‘It doesn’t matter what age, background, physical or mental health conditions. If I can make them feel safe, welcome and happy then I’ve done my job,’ she said.
‘Nothing is ever too much for Donna,’ said nominator Danielle Grigor. ‘Donna is a hard-working, reliable and incredible asset to Alliance. Even on the most stressful of days, Donna will take the time for anyone and everyone.’
Despite living in St Andrew’s, Miss Grigor makes the journey to the Alliance because of Donna’s customer service. ‘It makes all of our day when we pop in and I couldn’t imagine the place without her. She really does strive to cheer people up.
‘Whenever we come into the store, she’ll come over and take my seven-month-old and shoo us away until we’re done. The smile on both of their faces are huge.’
