D’arcy Hutchins
D’arcy Hutchins has been nominated for Young Achiever of the Year
About
D’arcy Hutchins is an extraordinary talent and a natural creative, according to nominator and art teacher Sam Bailey.
‘She really shows what a bright future this island has with its home-grown talent,’ said Miss Bailey.
‘She applies herself across a huge range of different media, combining her strong principles with her intelligence. She has always thought outside the box when creating her art and media.’
D’Arcy has pursued a range of different artistic endeavours, including photography, life drawing, painting, singing, and the violin.
‘She not only won awards for her media magazines and music videos, but also managed to print, paint and sculpt some of the most memorable pieces of her year.
‘Beyond the classroom, she was extremely supportive to her peers, taking time to share her skills with others and to mural the social spaces of younger students with her peers.’
D’Arcy has also painted murals for the Finding Turner art trail and for St James.
With a passion for photography, D’Arcy spent hours of her time during sixth form in the dark room refining her craft and even interviewed Paul Chambers on his creative process.
Miss Bailey said D’Arcy always takes advantage of the artistic opportunities on island and always seeks to give back to the community in any way she can.
‘Her empathy for others and genuine interest in the world makes her a hugely popular student and an empathetic soul.’
