Critical Care Unit
THE team at the Critical Care Unit has been nominated for the Angel of the Year award.
About
The ward specialises in providing care for critically ill patients.
In the most vulnerable moments, the team has been described as acting with ‘unwavering dedication, compassion, and professionalism,’ by their nominator Faye Downes.
As a family member to a patient on the ward, Miss Downes has felt all the staff have done their utmost to make the whole family feel part of the care process. ‘They explain, reassure, listen and support,’ she said.
‘The team all share one common goal, to give the best possible patient care and to get the best outcome possible,’ said ward manager Liz Depnering.
‘We are incredibly grateful to receive this nomination. It will be a great boost to the team to hear they are appreciated,’ she added.
‘It’s a scary time and they really do their best to put you at ease,’ said Miss Downes.
‘It’s not just about saving lives. It’s about the dignity, respect, and tireless commitment they show to every person who enters their
care. They truly are angels among us.’
