Claire Fallaize

Les Varendes has been an exciting new chapter for a maths teacher nominated for Teacher of the Year.
Claire Fallaize trained in Manchester before moving to Guernsey in 2017.
She has performed many roles in her teaching career. Previously head of house and head of year, she is now the associate assistant principal for Les Varendes.
Her role requires that she looks after personal development and Key Stage 4 across the school.
‘Working closely with Year 11 over the last few years has easily been the highlight. It’s such a pivotal year for them, and being right there with them through all the highs and lows is incredibly rewarding,’ she said.
Being the children’s support system during tough days, then celebrating their wins, is what attracts Mrs Fallaize to the job.
Before Les Varendes, she had been working at La Mare de Carteret Primary School until it closed.
‘Saying goodbye was tough. That school and community will always have a massive piece of my heart.’
Despite this, she looks forward to the future. Her new school is a fresh challenge, she said, with the chance to build a fantastic school from scratch.
‘I’m incredibly proud to be part of the team making that happen.’
