Claire Douglas
CLAIRE DOUGLAS has been nominated for the Bailiwick Community Hero award for her selfless dedication to local Girlguiding.
About
Mrs Douglas has been involved with Girlguiding for 31 years and has been a Brownie leader at the 3rd St Sampson’s Brownie unit for 25 years.
‘Claire truly is the heart of our unit. She embodies the very spirit of Girlguiding and our community is better and happier because of it,’ said her nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous.
‘From tackling paperwork and organising activities and crafts, to making sure there are biscuits ready for snack time, she pours her time, energy and love into creating unforgettable experiences for the girls.
‘She creates a safe, welcoming, and fun environment where every girl knows they are valued.
‘That steady commitment has quietly shaped the lives of so many in the Girlguiding community.’
Mrs Douglas said her role was very rewarding. ‘Seeing the pride in the girls’ faces when they achieve a badge or gain a skill is just great,’ she said. ‘I’m also grateful for the friendships I’ve made during my time in Girlguiding.’
