Claire Davies

CLAIRE DAVIES has been nominated for the Teacher of the Year award.

About

Mrs Davies was nominated by Debbie Brouard for her dedication in helping her son ensure he could attend a residential trip.
‘I feel very honoured,’ said Mrs Davies. ‘To have the work I do each day valued and recognised is a real compliment.’
Mrs Davies has been working at La Houguette Primary School for nine years following the closure of St Andrew’s Primary School.
‘I love my job. I do what I do because I believe every child deserves the best and I want to do everything I can to help and support that child as they grow,’ said Mrs Davies.
Mrs Brouard’s son struggles with changes in routine and was adamant he would not go on the school trip as he wasn’t sure he would be comfortable during his time away.
‘Mrs Davies spent a lot of time with him talking to him about it and showing him what he would be doing,’ said Mrs Brouard. ‘This helped him massively as routine and structure play a big part in his life. She also supported me and listened to my concerns. I couldn’t have asked for more.
‘Mrs Davies is an absolutely amazing teacher who is calm, patient and kind.
Mrs Brouard also credits Mrs Davies in helping her son get onto the waiting list for autism assessment after having been turned down in the past. ‘Without Claire, I think I would still be fighting for it.’
