Chandler Goddard

CHANDLER GODDARD has been nominated for the Teacher of the Year award.

About

After working at La Mare de Carteret in 2019 as a learning support assistant, Mr Goddard started his teacher training the following year, and returned to La Mare as a history teacher in 2021.
Mr Goddard felt fortunate to receive this nomination. ‘I have so many colleagues who work incredibly hard to provide students with the best education and experiences possible. With so many deserving candidates, it is an honour to receive this nomination.’
‘He has always gone above and beyond for us,’ said his nominator, Sian Craig. ‘What makes him stand out is how approachable he is and the amount of time he spends helping us. Mr Goddard was always available to support us, not only during class time but also through countless hours spent hosting revision sessions on Tuesdays after school’.
‘History GCSE isn’t my strong suit but he made it doable, even for me,’ said Sian. ‘He gives you reassurance that you can do it and that it’ll be OK.’
‘Some of the greatest highlights of my job are the times when students persist and achieve, especially in areas they have worked particularly hard at or perhaps found challenging,’ said Mr Goddard. ‘I feel a great sense of pride when students recognise their potential and see the results of their hard efforts.’
While he will always look back at La Mare fondly, Mr Goddard is excited to join colleagues and students in achieving great outcomes at Les Varendes High School this autumn.
