Cedric Bail
Cedric Bail has been nominated for the Sports Volunteer of the Year
About
Guernsey is a rugby island, according to Raiders membership secretary nominated for Sports Volunteer of the Year.
Now in his fourth year as secretary, Cedric Bail was recognised for his contribution to the club, in particular women’s rugby.
‘Guernsey Raiders have a bright future, especially the ladies team.’
Mr Bail admitted that he never played as an adult, unlike his dad and his father.
‘But I’ve always been surrounded by rugby players. I joined just to promote Guernsey,' he said.
It was Mr Bail who made contact with French teams to set up a ladies' game in May.
‘Me being French, I know a little French rugby. Hopefully we will be able to play in France yearly in the future.’
Mr Bail complimented the Guernsey teams on their rugby knowledge, and praised the island for its inclusivity.
His nominator said that Mr Bail’s efforts meant ‘women rugby teams were recognised.
‘For the last few years I have witnessed his enthusiasm and his curiosity grow continually.’
Mr Bail plans to hopefully bring another French team over.
‘We are in talks. I’m not doing this on my own, as the club has supported me.’
