Benjamin Chapman
Benjamin Chapman has been nominated for Young Achiever of the Year.
About
Eight-year-old Benjamin, from Alderney, has received numerous nominations for raising over £2,000 for the Alderney Football Club by completing a 9.1-mile bike ride around the island, which took him an hour and a half.
‘He is a credit to himself, his family, his football club and the community in Alderney,’ said one of his nominators.
‘He came up with the idea of a sponsored cycle ride of his own accord,’ said another nominator.
Benjamin raised a total of £2,127.40 for his football club he has been involved in since he was five years old.
‘I feel very proud for completing this cycle ride, I had so much support from the community in Alderney and Guernsey,’ said Benjamin.
Although the ride was a challenge, with several big hills to conquer, Benjamin had fun raising money for the football club and lots of support from his team mates, the other Alderney Mini Nomads.
‘Benjamin deserves this award for his determination and dedication towards raising money for the Alderney football club,’ said another nominator.
‘I wanted to raise money for my club to give us more chances to play football with other teams,’ said Benjamin. Almost all the team's matches have to be off-island.
