Axel Le Gallais
Axel Le Gallais has been nominated for Young Achiever of the Year
About
Axel Le Gallais, affectionately known as Little Ted, ‘embodies the very best of Guernsey’s community spirit’ according to his nominator for the award.
Axel has helped to raise more than £118,000 for local charities across the island, including the RNLI and Margo’s Marvellous Mind.
Axel said it was ‘nerve-racking but exciting’ to be nominated.
‘I feel proud and special because someone picked me.’
His work for the St Peter Port lifeboat station has lasted four years.
Alongside this, he had his head shaved in support of his grandfather, after he was diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Little Ted’s nominator said he was an exceptional young lad, with an unwavering ethos of putting others before himself.
‘His hard work ensures that rescue services and youth initiatives receive the vital funding they need to operate.
‘He has become a powerful role model, proving that young people can drive meaningful change.’
One challenge Ted faced was during a 13-mile walk to raise money for Margo’s Marvellous Mind.
‘The walk was very tiring, but it was good fun as I had five ice creams on the way,’ he said.
