Andy Adam

ANDY ADAM has been nominated for the Bailiwick Community Hero Award.

About

Mr Adam, Guernsey born, has been part of the St John Ambulance service for 40 years since 1985 when he joined the service. Since then he has seen the advancement and change in the service.
‘I was the youngest member to join and now I’m nearly the oldest in the service,’ said Mr Adam.
Before joining the service, Mr Adam was involved when he was eight years old as a junior cadet.
‘I think Andy’s unrelenting dedication and passion for his job is truly incredible,’ said his nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous.
‘As Guernsey’s longest-serving paramedic, I think he truly deserves a nomination.'
Some months ago, Mr Adam was offered the chance to represent the St John Ambulance Service at the 80th anniversary of VE Day event in London, a highlight of his career.
‘It was a privilege and an honour,’ he said.
‘Being nominated for community hero means a great deal to me, it means the work I do has an impact on people’s lives.'
He said he had enjoyed every bit of his career, from the challenges to the rewards.
‘I’ve been fortunate to be given such an opportunity. No day is the same, that’s the beauty of the job.’
All Mr Adam’s children have followed in his footsteps down the medical route.
‘Andy is a community hero for being there for the island community for so long,’ said his nominator.
