A1 Crab Supplies
A1 CRAB SUPPLIES has been nominated for the Bailiwick Community Hero award.
About
The team has been nominated for their organisation of the annual Christmas raffle that raises money for the RNLI.
Organiser, Bernie Le Gallais, has been recognised for his ‘tireless commitment’ each year in supporting the work of the charity.
‘Bernie has created an astonishing initiative that the whole community looks forward to each year,’ said his nominator, who wanted to remain anonymous.
‘He and his family put in so much effort behind the scenes selling tickets and organising prize donations, which you can see through the incredible amounts they raise each year.'
The raffle has generated over £70,000 since it first began in 2022.
Last Christmas it raised more than £30,000.
‘We don’t do it for recognition – we just love putting it on together as a family. It’s become a Christmas tradition,’ said Mr Le Gallais.
Bernie and his wife collect prizes from all over the island in the run-up, and their children have previously run tombola raffles at Beau Sejour.
‘There’s great community support too, and so it’s getting bigger – I just want to keep going,’ he said.
